Old Feelings : Lisa The Vegetarian

Episode 3F03 Lisa The Vegetarian [Season 7, Episode 5]
It’s the fact that these cartoon characters feel like humans that makes this show so great.

The episode starts at Story Town Village, fun appropriate for ages 1 to 7 ½. The village is reminiscent of any local amusement park. The small rides, broken props, and the simple mechanics are simply to entertain the young. Cue Maggie having a great time. It’s when the family arrives at the petting zoo portion do they all fall in love with a baby lamb.

Back home, the family sits down for dinner. Tonight’s course, lamb chops. The story takes off from here as Lisa realizes the lamb chops are no different than the lamb she fell in love with earlier. Much to the dismay of the family, Lisa crusade into vegetarianism happens to be at the same time Homer is planning his amazing BBBq. (The extra B is for BYOBB). Homer and Lisa collide, as neither is willing to back down. Lisa ultimately sabotages Homers event, and eventually both reconcile and walk off home.

There is something innocent about Lisas plea for others to become vegans. Lisa, despite her intellect and vast knowledge, is only a child. And in Lisa’s eyes, eating meat has become wrong. Who is to tell a child something she believes is wrong isn’t in fact wrong? Of course, sabotaging Homers BBBQ may have crossed the line, but actions work for the voiceless.

As Lisa and homer continue to fight, Lisa leaves, meets vegan rockstars, and eventually realizes she was wrong to push her beliefs on others. At the same time, Homer comes rushing to apologize to Lisa, not realizing what he did wrong, but willing to set aside his principles to keep his daughter.

A bit messy, but it’s my first one.
